Do not confuse this tool with a personal-file backup: recovery media is designed to boot the repair environment and does not replace a copy of your documents.
Finish this step before moving on and record the initial setting. A known baseline makes it easy to reverse the change if the result is not what you expected.
Step 2 — Select the correct USB drive
Connect only the USB stick intended for recovery, wait for it to appear, and verify its capacity and drive letter. Disconnect external disks that contain important data so there is less chance of selecting the wrong device. Confirm only after checking that the USB drive can safely be erased.
Check the result immediately on the relevant device or screen. If your version uses slightly different menu wording, locate the equivalent feature without changing unrelated options.
Step 3 — Let creation finish completely
Start the procedure and do not remove the USB drive until Windows reports that the recovery drive is ready. Duration depends on USB speed and whether system files are included. When finished, physically label the drive with the computer name and creation date so it cannot be confused with ordinary storage.

Now run a small real-world test. Do not rely on the interface alone: open the file, try the feature, or reconnect the device involved to confirm the expected behavior.
